Imphal, March 22: Some unknown armed persons shot dead a student during the Higher Secondary school examinations near Oriental Social Association, Wabagai Hiyanglam Awang Leikai according to a source today morning around 8.45 am.

The deceased a member of MSF identified as Huidrom Shyamsunder Alias Amujao 20 son of Ibomcha, Wabagai Awang Leikai came to appear for the examination at the Wabagai Pole Star College.

He was reportedly taken away to the eastern side of the college.

Gunshots were heard and he was found dead with bullet wounds in the head and belly.

Most of the students could not appear in the examinations adds the source.

AMSU today condemned the incident.

The AMSU condemned the act for the trend of disturbing examinations and for carrying out such act at educational areas.

AMSU asked those responsible for killing the student and asked those responsible to clarify.

The students� community will not remain a silent spectator it was warned.

It could encourage the security personnel to carry out similar activities it warned.

AMSU further urged the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur to arrange an alternative arrangement for those candidates who could not appear in the said examination at Pole Star College to save their academic career.

The dead body of Huidrom Shyam Sunder after conducting post mortem was brought to the head office of the Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) and the students condoled the death of Shyam.

Floral tributes will be offered tomorrow at 10 am.

Two minutes silence was observed.

The MSF asked why the student was shot.
