Imphal, December 01 2010:
Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress (MPTC) in a press statement released today has termed GoI's announcement of the arrest of UNLF, Chairman RK Meghen in Bihar as news not worthy of even an idiot.
This charade was carried out after the expose of Tehelka on the actual whereabouts of Meghen.
The UPF government in the state in dealing with RK Meghen's arrest has trampled on all universally accepted norms of human dignity.
This, the people of Manipur is well aware of.
MPTC strongly condemns this act, and Railway Minister Ms Mamata Bannerji will bring up the subject for discussion in the Lok Sabha.
The press statement further said if Meghen is to tried it must be a fair and transparent trial.
As an adjoinder the press release expressed strong displeasure that the Indian Railways do not give any concessions in rail travel to Manipur's reknown sportspersons.
The MPTC will be going to Guwahati to demand the stationing of a Nodal Officer in Imphal to amend the shortcomings.
