The Zelianrong Students' Union Tamenglong District, ZSUTD and Zeliangrong Women Union, ZWU Tamenglong District expressed shock that the 11 Assam Rifles has taken back all the computer sets which were "presented under MCA project 2008" during the tenure of Col Neelu Arya, Commandant 35 Assam Rifles.
In a joint press statement of the two bodies, they stated that such projects in Tamenglong district has been functioning properly without any problems.
It has come as a shock that computers which were gifted to organisations have been taken back.
The two organisations also alleged that under customary law of Zeliangrong any goods or gifts presented must not be taken back.
The two frontal organisations also questioned whether any items or goods presented under MCA project could be taken back under any rules and regulations of the Indian Army.
The ZSU and ZWU appealed to all the organisations and all individuals to be aware and to seriously check the rules and norms under MCA before accepting any items as it might tarnish the image of an organisation.
The press release was signed by Mathiusang Panmei, Coordinator ZSUTD and Lungniliu Gangmei, President ZWU.
Meanwhile, Capt HP Singh, Adjutant 11 Assam Rifles clarified that as far as security forces are concerned these computers were presented by 11 assam Rifles from its own resources and funds. The documents and photographs of the computers being presented to zeliangrong women and student unions were shown to these organisations while handing over the computers.
As part of MCA Audit these computers were being taken back temporarily to maintain details in the ledger as well as to check whether they were being utilized properly.
However these organisations fully know the facts behind the false statement.
The statements were made just to malign the image of the security forces and to undermine the good work done for the people by the 11 Assam Rifles.
