Tamenglong, December 01 2010:
Out of 11733 blood screening, 119 people were found HIV/AIDS positive.
Out of 60 people infected by AIDS as many as 14 people are taken ART while thirteen including one child have claimed during 2003 to 2010 by the disease in Tamenglong District.
This was stated by Dr Z Kamei, Nodal Officer of link ART Centre and MO in-charge of Community Care Centre Tamenglong during the observance of world AIDS day organised by AWARE and DAPCU Tamenglong at Indoor Stadium Tamenglong.
RK Ragaisin, Chief Executive Officer, ADC Tamenglong, N.Jacob ZEO, Tml, Khuplen Hlouvum, SDPO Tamenglong and Dr Sharatchandra Singh, CMO Tml grace the programme as chief guest, guest of honours and president of the function respectively.
Hundreds of people from across Tamenglong district participated the programme and shouted slogans like light to right, twenty ten and light to right.
The programme was held under the theme, Universal Access & Human Rights.
During the observance two young ladies who were living with HIV/AIDS courageously gave their testimonies that they are suffering HIV/AIDS positive adding that they were helped by AWARE Tamenglong.
They also narrated their grievances.
In his speech as chief guest RK Ragaisin, CEO, ADC Tamenglong urged the people who are living with having AIDS to keep healthy like a flower that keep blooming.
He advice them not to worried about the AIDS, as doctors are behind them to take care of and he gave a cash in kind to the two braved ladies who gave testimonies so that people can learnt about the dreadful disease and prevent it.
World AIDs day was also observed by Transformation Centre for all Community, TCC Tamenglong at the auditorium of ZM girls' school complex with Dr Sharatchandra Singh Chief Medical Officer Tamenglong as chief guest in early in the morning.
Dr Chambo Gonmei, Superintendent District Hospital Tamenglong spoke on two programme as resource person.
