A Army recruitment rally that has been organized under the aegis of Director Recruiting Assam begins at Peace Ground Tuibuang here today from 8am.More than 2000 enthusiastic youths have turn-up for the rally while 1950 participated in the rally.
Commander of 59 Mountain Brigade Brig RK Sharma inaugurated the recruitment rally.
Talking to The Sangai Express, Col Pathak the Director Recruiting Assam complemented the result of today�s rally as one of the best in North East as 321 have passed the physical examination.
All the needed physical tests including height, medical and running speed were tested today.
Expressing his helplessness in giving the exact numbers to be recruited caniddates the director said an average of 100-200 personnel were selected per rally and added that all the candidates selected after the physical examination has to give the entrance test to be conducted on the last Sunday of the month.
The test papers after coded here will be sent to Shillong for examination along with the marks obtained during the physical test and only after that the result be declared depending upon the number of vacancies, he added.
Upon enquiring Col Pathak said that the final result of the week long rally will be declared on the 16th May, 2005 at 1000 hrs.
It may be noted that more than 15 officials, including Doctors from different parts of the region have stationed here for the rally that was organized after an initiative for it was taken by Siamsian-pawlpi, a Paite student�s welfare association some months back.
Meanwhile, a PIB (DW) release informed that tomorrow candidates from Imphal East and Imphal West Districts would be screened for Soldier General Duty and tradesmen and the rally would continue till April 24.The release mentioned that the army recruitment rally is being held at Churachandpur after more than a decade.
The recruitment rally is a reflection of the improved forces of security and the civil administration, it added.
On being asked to comment, Brig RK Sharma said that this recruitment rally will greatly benefit the people of Manipur and it was being held at Churachandpur in response to the repeated demands of the people of this district.
The response to the rally is expected to be overwhelming as the security environment in the district has considerably improved and the army and civil administration has launched a massive awareness campaign which include motivational lectures in colleges and schools regarding the Army as a career.
In addition, pre-recruitment training was imparted at Tuilaphai, Rhingat, Tuibuang, Sendra (Moirang) and other places in the State by units of 57 Mountain Division.
There is an air of expectancy amongst the local people and all regard in this event as a positive step towards restoring normalcy in Churachandpur district.
