Imphal, November 22:
People of Chandel district are facing hardships owing to non availability of passenger bus services in the wake of the total bandh called by the Unapproved Private Teachers Association (UPTA) under Chandel Autonomous District Council.
According to RL Angdang Pakhan, spokesman for UPTA, vehicular movements from Pallel to Moreh and also from Pallel to Chandel HQs have been totally banned by the association for the last five days.
The UPTA spokesman said that the agitation was prompted by the non-response of the State Government to regularise the 144 unapproved private teachers under the Autonomous District Council of Chandel.
The spokesman claimed that even the Deputy Commissioner and the SDOs/SDCs of the Chandel district were forced to go back to Imphal by the agitators when the bureaucrats attempted to go to their respective offices in the district.
