Imphal, February 06 2009:
Following approval of the revised proposal of Rs 414 crores for Loktak Lake Conservation and Management Project by the Planning Commission, the Loktak Development Authority has been entrusted to start phoomdis (floating biomass) from Loktak lake within June this year.
A meeting held at New Delhi today with Planning Commission Chairman VK Chaturvedy in the chair gave assent to the proposal.
The revised project was prepared by the Wetlands International South Asia.
Additional Chief Secretary (Planning) DS Poonia and LDA Director Gojen participated in the meeting.
