For the State of Manipur, the Chief Electoral Officer has proposed to the Election Commission to conduct Lok Sabha elections in two phases before April 15, conveyed an official source.

The Chief Electoral Officer put up the proposal during a meeting of CEOs presided by the Election Commissioner on February 4.The Election Commission also hinted at acceptance of the proposal.
It was also proposed that elections for the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency be held on the same day on which Nagaland would go to Lok Sabha polls.
In this regard, list of districts neighbouring Nagaland has been submitted to the Election Commission, conveyed the source.
As a prelude to preparations of the elections, the Election Commission has intimated the State Government to transfer all employees who have been working in their home districts for more than three years and to replace them with others.
Notably, a meeting of Chief Secretaries and DGPs was held yesterday in connection with the Lok Sabha elections.
