Imphal, April 06 2009:
Around a thousand locals and five hundred students had enjoyed an exhibition on weapons and equipments used by the Indian Army at Lawmhoi Stadium in Thanlon village of Churachandpur district on April 4 last, a PIB(DW) release said.
The exhibition was organised by the Commanding Officer, 12 Madras in an endeavour to encourage the students, provide them exposure to the outside world and inculcate a sense of brotherhood and friendship among the students, youth and to propagate and focus the forte of Army, the release said.
It said that notices regarding the joining of Army were also displayed and the locals and students of the village interacted with the CO and other officers of the unit apart from exhibiting various types of weapons and equipments used by the Army.
Ex-sepoy Lalramlien, a veteran WW II soldier also shared his days in the Army during the exhibition while the village Chairman, Thongkham urged that the shows should be organised frequently, the release conveyed.
