Imphal, April 06 2009:
A joint team comprising volunteers of the All Manipur Anti-Drug Association (AMADA) and Zeliangrong Students' Union (ZSU), Manipur is leaving Imphal for Tousem sub-division with relief materials to help displaced Zeme people from NC hill taking refuge there.
The team will distribute the relief materials provided by the Indian Red Cross Society, Manipur state branch to the Zeme people who left their homes owing to the threaten and killing carried to the community by an underground outfit, DHD(J).

Around 300 displaced people are taking shelter at the relief camps opened at Tousem sub-divisional headquarters, Mandeu, Phaklong, Tousem Khullen and Njunkok villages.
The relief materials have been handed over to the joint team by the Red Cross Society today.
Secretary, Red Cross Society, Manipur Branch, prof Dr M Lala hand over the materials to the representatives of the ZSUM and AMADA today at its office at MG Avenue.
The joint team will leave Imphal by 6am of April 8 .
Indian Red Cross Society's state secretary Prof Dr.M Lala, state advisor, Narendra Ningomba, vice president, AMADA headquarter, Krishnamohon and secretary, ZSUM, Majabung were among others who present at today's function.
The relief materials handed over today included 250 pieces of woolen blanket, 600 tooth brush, 300 tooth paste, 264 pieces of soap, one tarpaulin, candles, matches and feedings of children.
Red Cross Society, state branch bought the material with he funds donated byhonest people and by contributing among the volunteers of the society, said officials of the society.
The joint team will be accompanied by a team of doctors while going to the relief camps and conduct health check up to the people taking refuge at the relief camps.
Medicines which will be required will also be carried.
