Imphal, April 06 2009:
Saying that some individuals distributed leaflets containing some inconsistent stories within Manipur University campus today, though without success, the MUSU has asked all concerned to stop all attempts to disturb and vitiate the peaceful academic atmosphere of the university.
In a press release issued by its general secretary Ananda Chongtham, the MUSU asserted that Sanjoy and Romesh who were allegedly bashed up by some unidentified persons inside MU Men's Hostel No 1 (Thangjing Hostel ) on April 4 were not legal hostellers of MU.
This was discovered during an investigation made by MUSU following the report of assault on them, it conveyed.
The leaflet titled "Maheiroisingda Aki-Akhang Pok-hanbiganu" was distributed in the name of MU Students' Against the Victimisation of Students which is non-existent and never heard of earlier, informed MUSU.
Observing that distribution of such meaningless leaflets has the potential to tarnish the image of MU, it appealed to all concerned to inform the MU authority and MUSU first if there is a problem/issue of any kind while also assuring all possible assistance from the side of MUSU.
All the students of the university have the right to express/convey their opinions, the MUSU noted.
However it appealed to all the students to express/convey their views/opinions in democratic manner so as to keep the reputation of MU always high.
