An NGO based in Manipur's Ukhrul district Monday alleged that authorities of the state health services lack accountability and transparency as the authority could not provide details of utilization of funds over Rs 20.91 lakhs released during the last three years for implementation of various programme related with improvement conditions in the district.
The People's Right For Poverty Eradication Manipur, Ukhrul in a statement while stating that the directorate of state health services could not provide the documents despite the Manipur Chief Information Commissioner order to provide it within 45 days, has also lodged a complaint with the commission today.
While lodging the complaint, the body requested the Chief Information Commissioner to pull out the erring authority to account why the due documents asked for is not given out.
The body had sought information with regard funds sanctioned and expenditure statement of the medical services in respect of the Ukhrul district during the year from 2005 to 2008 (three years) under the category of Ukhrul District Hospital, Primary Health Centre and Sub-primary Health Centre from the state directorate of health services through the state Chief Information Commissioner (CIC).
Even thought as per directive of the CIC, the health directorate provided the total sanction amount during the period which was Rs 20,91531 (Rs 786566 for 2005-06, Rs 811665 for 2006-07 and 494300 for 2007-08), the details regarding the utilization.
