AR forces villagers to do jungle cutting

After the bomb blast at Kumbi on September 9, which claimed 2 AR jawans and left 9 others injured, 33 Assam Rifles posted at Moirang Khunou allegedly forced the local people to conduct jungle cutting along the bushy roads around the Nagar Panchayat on Wednesday.
According to information given by the villagers, a day after the blast took place at Kangsoibi area; the AR personnel called a meeting with members of Kumbi Nagar Panchayat (KNP), Members and Pradhan of Kha Thinungei Gram Panchayat.
During the meeting, the AR directed that the members of KNP have to clear the bushes along the streets of ward nos.2, 3, and 9 and the KNP members should take the responsibility for similar bomb attacks in future.
Accordingly, members of ward no 9 and villagers cleared all the bushy areas on Tuesday and the exercise was carried out in ward no.2 and 9 today.
It is said that AR personnel also intensified frisking along Kumbi road.
