Sadar Hills Deputy Inspector (DI) office reopens

Along with the formal reopening of the office of Deputy Inspector (DI) of School, Sadar Hills located at Gamnom Sapermaina the DI office organised a one day 'Girls Education Campaign and Block Level Meeting on Right to Education Programme of Sarva Shiksa Abhiyan (SSA) under Saitu Gamphajol Block at the Gamnom Sapermaina community hall.
The DI office was re-inaugurated today by KBC Sapermaina Pastor Rev N Baite in the presence of Irrigation and Flood Control Minister Ngamthang Haokip and others.
The DI office was substantially damaged after agitators set it on fire during the tumultuous movement on the demand for district status to Sadar Hills.
Inaugurating the girls education campaign cum block level meeting after the office re-inauguration, Ngamthang Haokip also handed over identity cards to Youth Congress members of Saitu Gamphajol sub-division.
He also released a pictorial chart in connection with the girls education campaign.
Confiding that the Government initially faced severe financial problem that it could not initiate repairing work of the damaged DI office, Ngamthang claimed that he vigorously prevailed upon the State Government on the need to re-establish the facility.
Appealing to all concerned against targeting public property in the future with the reminder that acts of violence cannot bring solution to any problem, the Minister also called upon the employees to ensure regular attendance and efficient working.
Stressing on the need for effective and judicious implementation of all the welfare programmes such as mid-day meal scheme in order to benefit the student community, Ngamthang maintained that health and well-being of the students are essential in achieving the target of quality education.
Asserting that he would strive to ensure all round development of Saitu Gamphajol sub-division, the Minister further informed the gathering that efforts are on to set up a 33 KV power station and a Rs 4 crore water supply scheme in the sub-division.
Speaking at the occasion, Saitu Sub Divisional Officer N Surjit Singh highlighted that the girls education campaign cum block level meeting would be helpful in clearly understanding the Right to Education Act.
