Senapati, September 12, 2012:
In its Presidential Council meeting held at Senapati on September 10, Naga People's Organisation (NPO) has acknowledged and appreciated the move made by three Kuki revolutionary groups to stop observance of Kuki Black Day.
Lauding the Christian spirit of 'forgive and forget' expressed by three Kuki revolutionary groups namely, United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF), Zou Defence Volunteers (ZDV) and Kuki Revolutionary Army (united), the NPO unit Tribe Presidents and the apex body appealed to the Kuki brethren not observe the Kuki Black day as it reminds the dark history of violence and hatred.
"In our efforts to remove all our communal feelings and renew historical brotherhood, the observance of such day will only bring back the records of bloodshed and unforgiving emotions", NPO stated.
Upholding the Christian faith and marching together collectively towards a harmonious and peaceful co-existence, it is also the wish of the Nagas to abstain from organizing such events, NPO said, adding that the Kuki-Naga ethnic issues have done nothing good to both the peace loving communities.
