Imphal, December 01:
Following reports of sighting a Royal Bengal tiger at Bhalok village, about 7 kms away from Tamenglong district headquarters a few days back which was conveyed to the Tamenglong DC by the local villagers, an official team of the Forest and Environment has left for the village today.
As the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest has been intimated of the sighting, Tamenglong DC T Panmei has also instructed the local villagers not to kill the tiger.
Yet, T Panmei expressed apprehension that the villagers, induced by fear that the tiger might target cattle or even villagers or by their desire for money, might kill the tiger.
