Deputy Director of Tribal Development Department (TD) L Rajendro who has been in the custody of United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) since October 30 this year has been grilled by the outfit in connection with alleged misuse of around Rs 4 crores from the TD account.
Rajendro is posted at the Chandel TD office and he was abducted by the UKLF activists from Pallel Bazar at around 11 am on October 30 last.
The officer, who has been in the custody of the outfit since then, was paraded in front of media persons at a place in Chandel district today.
Speaking on the occasion, captain Zoshua of the outfit said during 2002-04 Centre had sanctioned an amount of Rs 5 crores to the TD for procuring CI sheets under the Housing Scheme.
But out of the total sanctioned amount Rs 4 crores had been misused by the them TD Minister in connivance with some of the officials of the Department.
The Deputy Director has confessed to his involvement in the embezzlement said amount during interrogation, Zoshua said.
The Deputy Director also admitted the charge levelled against him.
While informing that Director BB Sharma, DDO Solomon and Joint Director A Binodini were also directly involvement in the case, Zoshua warned that the officials so named should themselves be held responsible for any eventuality if they do not surrendered to UKLF at the earliest possible.
Zoshua further informed that UKLF has started monitoring the schemes being taken up by the TD and the fund released.
It is the responsibility of the Minister and officials concerned of the Department to discharge their duties sincerely and to make sure that the benefit of the schemes percolate down to the people.
He also claimed that UKLF has evidences that Samuel Jendai, Haokholet Kipgen and Ngamthang Haokip had misused huge amount of fund in connivance with the officials of the Department while they were TD Ministers during 1998 to 2000.
