The Chief Minister okram ibobi Singh has inaugurated the Saitu-Gamphajol Telephone Exchange and community hall as well as a bailey bridge at Sapermeina today.
In addition to the inauguration spree the CM also laid foundation stone for construction of an office complex of Gamnom Sapermeina Village Authorities and inspected a local residential school.
The bailey bridge inaugurated by the CM today was constructed by the State PWD under the Basic Minimum Service allocation of Rs 93 lakhs.
The total length of the bridge is 140 feet and will establish connectivity between Sapermeina and Saikul of Senapati district via Sagolmang in Imphal East district having over 13 villages.
The bailey bridge inauguration function was also attended by Works Minister Th Debendra, IPR minister Gaikhangam, IFC Minister Phungzathang Tonsing, former Speaker TN Haokip, Chairman of Tribal Development Corporation DK Korungthang, LDA Chairman N Loken and FCS Minister Ngamthang Haokip.
Citing, as usual, fund crunch besieging the State Government, the Chief Minister said inspite of sincere effort to extend infrastructure development in the hill districts nothing substantial could be attained in the past.
However, due to slight improvement in financial position of the State development programmes could be carried out to some extent, said the CM while assuring more welfare projects in the days ahead.
He also asserted that Government is making all out effort to deploy doctors and paramedical staffs in adequate number in all the hill areas while expressing that Government will continue to pursue public welfare oriented projects in the same line as that of Saitu area.
Speaking on the occasion, Works Minister th Debendra conveyed to the gathering of Govt having sent a proposal to the Centre for allocation of Rs 285 crore to interlink all the hill districts.
Touching on the Sadar Hills issue, Debendra said with various development schemes being promoted and carried out in SaituGamphajol area conversion of Sadar Hills into a revenue district would not be a distant dream anymore.
