Imphal, August 16:
Despite extending their support to the cause of upgrading Sadar Hills into a full-fledged revenue districts, appeals are being made from various quarters to review the decision of the SHDDC to call a five-day Sadar Hills bandh with effect from midnight today in view of the fact that the people of Manipur have not yet been able to pick up the thread of normal lives after the just lifted ANS AM sponsored economic blockade.
Leader of the MPP Legislature Wing Dr Nimai-chahd Luwang said although the demand for upgradation of Sadar Hills into a full-fledged revenue district is justifiable and his party would do every thing possible within its means to see that the demand is fulfilled, but subjecting the people to yet another spell of bandh/blockade at this juncture is not advisable.
The people of Manipur have suffered untold miseries as a fallout of the j ust lifted almost two months long indefinite economic blockade along the NHs and the State has yet again plunged into another crisis of shortage of fertliser.
At such a critical juncture, it would be better to review the decision of imposing bandh, the MLA said.
