Intent on aiming Jiribam as the gateway of Manipur, the State Cabinet which met today evening has decided to link the border town to National Highway-150.Briefing newsmen after the Cabinet meeting, spokesman of the SPF Govt Gaikhangam said that apart from deciding to link Jiribam with NH-150, the Cabinet also agreed to the proposal of signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the Centre in connection with Teachers' Education.
The spokesman said that the SPF Cabinet took a decision to take up the task of connecting Churachandpur with Jiribam along NH-150 via Taithu on a priority basis.
The Centre will be approached to release the needed funds to develop the said highway as well as to connect Jiribam with Churachandpur, added Gaikhangam.
The Border Roads Organisation may also be entrusted with the task of developing some stretches of the highway.
The Cabinet also agreed to introduce Vaiphei and Kom dialects as medium of instructions.
The State Cabinet has also agreed to prorogue the 11th session of the 8th Assembly.
It was also agreed to create an ex-cadre post for Chief Conservator of Forest, informed the spokesman.
Other decisions taken in today's Cabinet meeting included appointment of stenographers and drivers for Gauhati High Court, Imphal bench on contract basis, engaging three High Court Advocates as Government Advocates for one year on contract basis, engaging three Advocates as Assistant Public Prosecutors cum Assistant Government Advocates for one year on contract basis, further informed Gaikhangam.
