Imphal, August 16:
Lamlai police have arrested a fertiliser dealer who was found selling fertilisers at a rate higher than at the normal Government rate at Takhel and Seijang which fall within the Assembly Constituency of Agriculture Minister Ph Parijat.
The arrested dealer is identified as Laitonjam Pishak of Khurai Konsam Leikai.
Police said that Pishak, who is a Government nominee, sold the fertlisers he had lifted from DiAiapur on the sly without reporting to the authorities concerned.
He sold the fertlisers to the farmers of Seijang village charging Rs 530 per bag and at Rs 450 per bag at Takhel area, though the rate fixed by the Government is only Rs 350.
