Zomi Youth Organisation (ZYO), Sugnu Block; Zomi Sangnaupang Pawlpi (ZSP); Zou Mothers' Association (ZOMA); United Zomi Organisation (UZO); Sugnu Young Christian Organisation (SYCO) and Zou Chief Association, Sugnu area have strongly condemned the incident of firing upon a Mini Tata by armed cadres of underground organisation at Umathel area on the night of August 10 killing four civilians and casing serious injuries to others who were travelling in it.
A joint statement signed by president of ZYO, Sugnu Block Robert Heenlian Gangte questioned why the innocent civilians are making their targets and demanded to know the identity of the organisation responsible for such heinous act.
Failure to comply with this demand may compel the bodies of the Zou people of Sugnu area to declare it as an act of terrorism and anti-people, Robert said.
It also fervently appealed to all underground organisations not to repeat such condemnable act in future and led the people to live in peace.
The joint statement also appealed to the State Government and local MLA K Ranjit to see that the ex-gratia of the dead persons are handed over to the bereaved families at the earliest besides instituting a court of inquiry into the incident.
