Imphal, August 16:
Even as a number of civil societies of Ukhrul have raised their voices to demand the removal of its DC, a number of other social organisations such as Yang Raphei Conference, Kathor Katamnao Long and Sagolmang Area Naga Students' Association have pointed an accusing finger at the bodies calling for the ouster of the DC.
In a statement, the bodies said that move spearheaded by the TNL, TMNL, TKSL, and TKS to oust the DC is nothing but driven by selfish gains and maintained that the demand is not for the good of society.
Stating that this is not the first time such a demand has been raised, YRC, KKL and SANSA recalled that a similar demand was raised when the Centrally sponsored SGRY scheme was in the offing.
This time too, the demand has been raised when the said scheme is in the offing, added the statement and alleged that the president of TNL is lobbying with the DC office to get the scheme allotted through the office of the TNL.
The statement questioned why a lawsuit has not been filed against the DC if the charges raised against him have any substance.
Under the aegis of the TNL a resolution was passed to boycott the DC on June 23 this year, recalled the statement and added that the boycott continued till August 11.On August 13 a resolution was passed to relax the boycott, said the statement.
However on August 14, the president of TKS announced that the boycott of the DC was still on.
Taking strong exception to such act, which it termed as betrayal, the statement said that civil societies should work for the public.
