Imphal, March 03:
Reacting to the instruction of the Finance Department not to release salary for those employees who have not submitted No Due Certificates from Electricity Dept, the State DGP, in a written letter to Chief Secretary has strongly contended that whole Police Department would have to take mass leave if they have to get the No Due Certificates for getting their salaries, a reliable source informed.
In the letter, DGP noted that the police personnel do not have the time to go and get the No Due Certificates from the Electricity Department as they were engaged in maintaining law and order round the clock besides deploying them for various purposes.
If they have to get their No Due Certificates, all the police personnel of the Department would be needing to take mass casual leave for a couple of days.
The DGP also objected to levying power taxes from those personnel who have staying at security barracks, the source informed.
In cognisance of the complaint of the DGP, the source further informed, the comments of the Finance Department have been sought on whether the Police Department can be exempted from No Due Certificates norms from Electricity Department for drawing salary for one month.
The Finance Department might come out with a decision on the matter within a day or two, the source added.
