Imphal, October 28:
A team of Imphal West police arrested two members of the KCP (Prithivi group) and an elderly person said to have provided shelter to them from Lilong Leihao-khong area at about 6 pm today.
Besides recovery of a Yamaha motorbike suspected to be used by the arrested UG members, Imphal West SP S Ibocha informed that the police team also picked up three other youths and equal number of motorbikes from near the same spot as they failed to furnish authentic registration documents.
Based on specific information of presence of some bike lifters in Lilong Leihaokhong and Haoreibi areas the police team rushed there saw the two youths fleeing on seeing the police, said Ibocha while adding both were arrested after a brief chase.
The two KCP men have been identified as Sinam Sanatomba alias Thoi alias Sharma (20) of Kakwa Naorem Leikai and Sinam Prekanta alias Dada Chaoba (20) of Keinou Maning Leikai.
The SP further contended that based on confession of the two youth the motorbike (MN1J/0197) was recovered from a house located next to where they had taken shelter while the elderly person - Md Abdul Samad (64) - has also been picked up for sheltering the UGs.
