Imphal, June 01:
Strongly rejecting the claim of Indian army of having controlled Sajik Tampak and adjoining areas the proscribed PREPAK said people should be aware of the fact that advances of Indian troops spell doom rather that sops for the people as promised.
The deployment of Indian security forces in large number in the State is with the sole objective of not only checking the underground activities of various outfits but with a sinister design to abuse human rights, carry out criminal agenda and deny the people of their basic rights, said the deputy secretary of PREPAK's department of publicity and propaganda committee.
Referring to the indian army claim of providing hygienic drinking water, resumption of power supply, extension of telephone facilities and assurances to improve transportation the statement said contrary to the lofty promises the security force occupying school buildings, dismantling houses and restriction on purchase of essential items are vivid example of the Indian Government's expansionist agenda.
Curtailment on free movement of Sajik Tampak villagers could in no way be conceived as part of the procedure to free the people from their hardships but is another addition to decades of suffering faced by the people since annexation of Manipur to the Indian Union, PREPAK stated.
Recalling instances of atrocities committed by Indian security forces the outfit cautioned the people not to be lured by false promises of the security force personnel but instead fight tooth and nail to regain lost freedom.
Pointing to the March month killing of 11 persons, whom the underground organisation contended as innocent civilians, and various other cases of human rights abuse throughout India the PREPAK statement said Indian security forces have been undermining provision of UNO where 'right to self determination', 'right to freedom, independent to the colonial people' etc are clearly enshrined in the UN charter.
Rather that ensure that people enjoy the rights prescribed by the UNO the Indian Government had imposed draconian laws to carry forth their agenda of eliminating enemies by all possible means, the statement said.
PREPAK further alleged that concerted efforts are also being made by the Govt of India to alter the cultural and traditional riches of Manipur instead of aiding the cultural exponent earn their rightful place in the international arena to present the unique composition of the Manipur art and culture.
The outfit further contended that such discriminatory attitude of the Government of India reflected in the conduct of its security forces has begun to be protested vehemently by people in States like Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chattisgarh, Orissa, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir etc.
It would not be long before people of these States revolt against the Indian rule as level of tolerance of the affected people have been crossed due to continued atrocities by the security personnel.
The outfit also urged Indian soldiers for self introspection whether orders of the higher officials are for the benefit of their brethren or conceitedly aimed at suffocating the genuine demands of the people.
