The inaugural programme of the two day 'Man Fete 2004' organised by Manipur Institute of Management Studies (MIMS), Manipur University was held today at the Dr Kamal Indoor Stadium with University Vice Chancellor Dr N Bijoy Singh, dean of Social Studies Dr Ksh Bimola and Commissioner (Higher&Technical) P Sharatchandra as the chief guest, guest of honour and president respectively.
In his address, the chief guest describing the festival as a platform for the youths to express and showcase their talents as opined its would inculcate a sense of adventurism to acquire more knowledge as well as imbibe discipline among the students.
Dr Bijoy also expressed the festival focused on entertainment and education would go a long way in diverting the energy of the youths towards communal peace and harmony while giving the juniors opportunity to interact with their seniors for renewed thrust in pursuit of their respective goals in life.
The Vice Chancellor also expressed optimism that new found knowledge in the gathering would be channelised into more productive endeavours.
Delivering the presidential address, P Sharatchandra said virtue of truth and sacrifice acquired by the youths and student community in their short stint as students pursuing higher goals of life could be utilised in a proper and practical way in such a way that the society would benefit to whatever extent it could.
