Dwelling at length on the importance of education in development of society as well as in moulding the character of a person, Democratic Students� Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has appealed to all concerned for contributing their mite in solving problems besetting education system in Manipur.
In a lengthy statement, secretary of education and academic affairs of the students� body LC Santosh rued that the no sincere efforts have been made by the department concerned for improvement of education system in Manipur.
Education is the backbone of society and the plight of the societies which did not pay much attention to the important aspects of education have been witnessed the world over.
But in Manipur, the standard of education from the primary level to the university level is still at a dismal state with lack of adequate infrastructure and teachers being the common problems in all the educational institutions, he maintained.
The prevailing education system in Manipur is wrought with problems and in the absence of any trained authoritative body to give special attention in the matter, the problems have become manifold, he observed, while appealing to all concerned for a concerted effort to overcome the difficulties while there is still time.
The students� body also decried the attempt being made to brain-wash young students by imparting educational knowledge which are alien to the culture and tradition of the society.
DESAM unit: With the main objective of strengthening functioning of the organisation, a 11-member executive body has been newly constituted for Kongba Local Council of Democratic Students� Alliance of Manipur during a meeting held at head office of the students� body today.
The newly constituted executive body is headed by MS Romesh as president and Naorem Johnson Mangangcha as secretary general.
Free coaching: Continuing their effort for providing quality education to the students, Imphal East District Council and Kongba Local Council of Democratic Students� Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) would be jointly organising free coaching classes for students studying in class VIII to X from June 10.Subjects like English, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Biology would be taught to the students by subject experts concerned.
The coaching classes would be held from 7 am to 9 am.
