After the success of 'One North East' campaign, Royal Riders, Manipur, an organisation of Enfield Bullet motorbike riders has embarked on its mission of reaching out to the underprivileged sections of the society along with distribution of aid to the inmates of Orphanages in the State.
Living upto its motto of 'Serving with adventure', the organisation today distributed dresses and stationary items to the inmates of Kapaar Kachoung Orphanage and Children Education Centre at Khasim under Chandel district.
Interacting with media-persons at the occasion, programme co-ordinator of Royal Riders, Manipur Momocha Laishram said realising the need to reach out to less privileged sections of the society, the dresses and the stationary items donated by its member Ranbir were being distributed to the inmates of the orphanage.
Khullakpa of Khangsim village and Board member of the Orphan Home Koshang Khaling who was also present at the occasion observed that Khoibu tribe is one of the minority groups in Manipur.
Originally, they belonged to Kabo Valley.
But after the Awas started a genocide campaign against the Khoibu people on account of helping the Meitei King during war, those who managed to survive onslaught fled to Manipur and settled at the present village.
The Orphanage was set up for the children who have been exposed early in life to the vagaries of war and ethnic clashes.
Today, there are in all 90 children in the Home, he said.
Sharing his experience before he came to the Home, Chungminlen Kuki, a student inmate said though his father was a Kuki, his mother was a Naga and all of them lived happily at his mother's village.
His sister told him that he was still a baby when the Kuki-Naga clash broke out.
Whereabouts of his father cannot be traced after he had gone out from home one day and his mother subsequently passed away from the pang of separation leaving behind him and his sister orphaned.
'But after coming here, I feel that the joy of living in a family again', the young student said.
Royal Riders, Manipur president Alex Zingkhai mentioned that the service of those who are running the Homes for destitute people and children is the greatest service of all.
Royal Riders, Manipur also distributed dresses and stationary items at Nongpok Maheikol, a home for destitute girls run by Organisation for Underprivileged Group, Bamon Leikai.
