The proposed Guite Road Black day campaign reached its peak on the second day of the mass campaign today as various organizations pledged their support and voluntary donation flooded the organizing committee.
Power Minister T Phungzathang, Singngat MLA T Hangkhanpao and the District Supply Officer were among the prominent officials who have pledged innumerable contribution towards the proposed protest social work.
While the organizations that have pledged their support include among others, the Guite Road Transport Co-op Society Limited, LamkaAizawl Sumo Service Association, Churachandpur Shaktiman Owners' Association, Malwari Society, Bihari and Bengali Traders and the Churches.
Meanwhile, a statement of the Churachandpur District Students Union today said the Union is concerned over the pathetic condition of the Guite Road and called on the general public, civil societies and student organizations to step forward and extend full support and co-operation to the proposed mass protest social work.
It also reiterated the demand for handing over Guite Road to the BRO be honoured without any further delay as the student body has also signed a MoU with the State Government on 19 September, 2006 .
Main organizers of the black day, the ZSF as well claimed that their protest will be purely peaceful, democratic and non-violent, based on the principles of Gandhi Giri which was successfully adopted by Gandhiji to wake up the sleeping British giant.
