Hitting a milestone, T Lailoiphai Youth Development Organisation (TLYDO) celebrated its silver jubilee at T Lailoiphai village in Churachandpur district today.
The inaugural function of the celebration was attended by president of United Zomi Organisation (UZO) Ginsuanhau Mate, special contractor Yaima Maring and executive engineer of PMGSY, Chandel division Huisen as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Unveiling of the silver jubilee stone and dedicating it to the people, observing silence for one minute as mark of respect to the departed leaders of TLYDO and presentation of cultural dances and songs were some of the main highlight of the celebration attended by a large number of people.
The celebration formally begun with the benediction by Church leader Otsei Baite.
This was followed by the opening song rendered by Khatlim and party evoking theme of the silver jubilee and unveiling of the silver jubilee stone by Rev Mangkhosei Baite of Sugnu Pastorate.
Later addressing the gathering, Ginsuanhau Mate observed that it is well known fact that there can be no development in a society where there is no peace.
This important element of peace can come about only when every individual regardless of their social and community background start loving and understanding each other.
Youths who are the future of the society can also contribute their mite in this regard, he added.
In his presidential address, Yaima Maring stressed on the need for discipline among the youth and understanding themselves.
Every section of the society should also work together for the development of the State with the feeling of oneness, he exhorted.
In continuation of the celebration, noted local artistes including Kamboyz Baite, Janglal Khongsai, Maxie Minthang, Thangsei Haokip, Mirinda and Kakai Kipgen, etc also presented songs enthralling the crowd.
Musical nite: To promote peace and brotherhood in Manipur, 16 Maratha Light Infantry organised a grand musical night on the eve of Christmas and New Year at Gothel in Bishnupur district.
The programme was a grand success and was attended by hundreds of villagers from the surrounding villages of Thangjing and Moirang area, according to a statement issued by PRO Assam Rifles.
The programme included musical performance by renowned local artists from Churachandpur, the PRO informed, adding that the event symbolised the excellent rapport shared between the Army and the local population of the area.
