Imphal, January 09 2010:
Head office of All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) has been found ransacked when functionaries of the student body returned today for normal chores after prolonged closure.
Ever since AMSU along with two other student bodies namely Manipuri Students' Federation and Kangleipak Students' Association gave class boycott call on September 9 as a part of the agitation against the July 23 BT Road firing, AMSU office bearers/members had been evading arrest by police thereby vacating the head office after locking the building located at DM College campus.

However, upon returning to the head office at around 10 am today as the agitation was called off yesterday after an agreement between agitating bodies and the State Government, AMSU functionaries discovered the office rooms laying in shambles and files scattered everywhere.
speaking to newspersons at the office premises, AMSU publicity secretary L Ranendra recounted that on September 9 last, the joint class boycott call was given and from the very next day all the members left the head office.
On closure look, almirahs of the office bearers were found broken, files/office documents scattered and furnitures either dismantled or disarrayed.
It is also informed that Rs 2700 kept in the almirah of the AMSU president Irengbam Jamesbond is missing in addition loss of Rs 19,500 from the general secretary Md alamgir's almirah and another sum of Rs 36,300 reportedly kept in the almirah of its finance secretary Th Kirankanta.
other items lost during the abandoned period also included two computer sets, one colour television and 10 receipt books.
Ranendra informed that when some members went to the head office on December 28, 2009 to de-hoist the flag everything was in order.
He further stated that AMSU's new letter heads and receipt books would be printed for use in future while invalidating the old ones.
