Imphal, March 03 2013 :
A one-day free medical was held today at Khulsaibung village under Machi block in Chandel district under the aegis of the Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA) and the Peace Foundation Committee.
The medical camp was conducted by seven doctors of different medical science branches like paediatrics, ENT, medicine and gynaecology.
Around 300 villagers were examined and diagnosed at
the medical camp.
CADA president Arambam Robindro said that it was the second such medical camp organised with the aim of addressing health issues faced by people living in interior and remote areas.
He said that similar medical camps would be organised in other interior areas.
Robindro also acknowledged assistance provided by the Centre for Medical Sales and Representatives' Union, Manipur Sales and Representatives' Union and the students of Khabeisoi Nursing Institute towards successful organisation of the medical camp.
One woman who was suffering from discharge of white patches and loss appetite wished that such medical camps are organised at least twice or thrice in a year at their village.
Even though Khulsaibung is located under Machi block, it is quite far from the block headquarters.
As such, villagers go to Heirok CHC at times of illness and other health problems as it is nearer and more convenient.
Most of the villagers cannot afford medical treatment at Imphal due to poverty and poor transport infrastructure, she added.
