Ukhrul, October 01 2009:
Hunphun Katamnao Long (HKL /Ukhrul students Union ), Hunphun Shanao Long (Women Union) and the Village Authority, Hunphun, have strongly decried the 48 hours bandh called by the Autonomous District Council Teachers Appointees Parents Guardian Association (ADC TPGA) from mid-night of October 1 .
Talking to The Sangai Express, secretary general of HKL, HA Mayarngam said that the three Ukhrul based organizations, HKL, HSL and VA jointly discussed the matter minutely today, and finally resolved not to extend any co-operation strongly condemned the bandh called by the ADCTPGA and warned that they will not allow the bandh to be imposed in Ukhrul.
Asserting that the bandh has been called by some handful of vested interested persons and splinter group of ADC 2006 Appointed Teachers Welfare Association (ATWA) with the strength of only three percent out of the 186 ATWA of Ukhrul, they said that the bandh is nothing but creating unnecessary disturbance and hindrance to the general public.
The organizations further maintained that majority of the 186 teachers of Ukhrul are abiding by the order of the Government and are ready to face the DPC to be held on October 11 along with the other new candidates.
Any attempt to disturb the coming district council teacher's recruitment by some vested persons will draw flakes from different sections of people including many prominent social workers , intellectuals and many formal students leader, they maintained.
It is only a handful of teachers, who have broken away from the parent body, 2006 ADC Appointee Welfare Association, to form the 2006 ADC Teachers Parents/ Guardian Association trying to disrupt the coming DPC, they charged.
The announced DPC in ADC is to enhance the growth of education in the hills.
Trying to mar it means an attempt to throw a spanner to education, said HKL and further appealed for good sense prevail and not to disturb the coming DPC by calling bandh or strike which will not solve the problems.
The bandh caller themselves may become the problems of the gereral public, it warned.
