Imphal, October 01 2009:
The three agitating students' bodies - AMSU, MSF, and KSA - have warned of penalising five "defiant" schools if the authorities of the five schools, which defied the boycott call, fail to give a written statement to the students' organisations within October 5 as to why they are acting against people's and students' movement.
In a joint statement, AMSU, MSF, and KSA have pointed out that the five schools which defy the class boycott call as RUDA Academy, Thoubal Wangmataba; Peace and Freedom Academy, Thoubal Haokha Sorarel; Brilliant Academy, Thoubal Mela Ground; KM Blooming School, Khangabok; and Anandpurna School, Thoubal Tumjing Makhong.
The students' bodies also conveyed that the punishments against the schools may be made lighter if the schools' authorities tender apology for standing against the people through the media and if the schools have immediately stopped classes.
Meanwhile, reacting to the statement of CM O Ibobi on the occasion of the valedictory function of the School Meet held yesterday at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, who said that bullets were shown to some schools which are supposed to have violated the class boycott call, the statement asked whether the alleged act was justified.
Rejecting the statement of the CM, the students' bodies asserted that it was propaganda played by diffident politicians.
The fact can be viewed from two angles.
The bullets could have been left by militants who served monetary demand or whether the school authorities blown up the matter by claiming that they have been threatened with bullets out of fear of the threats by police commandos and due to fear of cancellation of recognition by the government for supporting the
boycott call.
The second angle is: whether it is the act of Ibobi to tarnish the image of the three students' bodies out of irritation that the agitation of the students' bodies is causing a jolt in the government and in order to give ground for the banning of the students' bodies.
On the ground of the CM's inability to name the schools that were threatened with bullets, the statement posited that the act could be done by himself as half of the security deployed in the four valley districts have been posted in Thoubal district against the backdrop of the present agitations.
The statement charged that it was a drama played by Ibobi, which is acceptable only to Okram (O) Landhoni, but not to other people.
