Nagaland DG Prisons, NN Walling (IPS) tenderly called upon the Kohima Jail inmates to transform their lives for the better while they were serving as prisoners inside the jail.
He was speaking on the occasion of the "Free Medical Camp" organized by the 2 Assam Rifles and it was also coincided with the "Father's Day" for the Kohima jail inmates here inside the jail today.
The DG Prisons told the inmates that they all served as prisoners as they had committed something that was against the laws of the land.
"But you all should transform yourself while you are inside the jail and when you leave the jail, you should become a good citizens and work for the society, state and nation," he said.
Narrating how he had been facing in looking after the jail inmates with the meager funds they had, Walling extended his gratitude to the 2 Assam Rifles for providing "Free Medical Camp" for the Kohima jail inmates.
He described as a "succor" the help came from the 2 Assam Rifles to the Kohima jail inmates at a time when the department had hardly managed the maintenance due to paucity of funds.
This not only reflected the true meaning of the Assam Rifles as "the Friends of the Hills" but also the love and affection of them (Assam Rifles), he pointed out.
Walling also wished the inmates a very happy father's day.
Brig RL Sharma, Commander 5 Sector, while greeting "Father's day" to the Kohima jail inmates also told the inmates to become a responsible citizens of the society, state and the nation.
"You all are young and have long way to go and do many things for the humanity," he said.
"Therefore when you are serving as prisoners inside the jail, you all should have determination to change your lives for the better.
And when you leave the jail, you should become a model for others to follow".
Brig Sharma also informed the DG Prisons to use the service of the Assam Rifles whenever required for providing such free medical helps for the jail inmates.
"We will always be available for the service of the inmates," he said.
2 Assam Rifles CO, Col Benze, his officers and Prison department officials also attended the program.
