Intensifying the ongoing counter insurgency operation, security forces have reportedly apprehended at least four underground activists from different parts of the State during the last forty-eight hours.
Arrested underground activists include two from the KYKL and one each of KCP and UNLF.
Imphal West Commandos arrested the two KYKL activists during search operation at Tera Sapam Leirak and Langthabal Phuramakhong area at about 7 pm and 7.30 pm respectively on June 18.They have been identified as Ningthoujam Ojit (26) s/o N Joykumar of Tera Sapam Leirak and Leitanthem Ibomcha (45) s/o late L Yaima of Mayang Imphal Bazar.
Ojit was arrested from his own house and Ibomcha from Langthabal Phuramakhong.
Another team of Imphal West Commandos arrested a KCP activist identified as Kongkham Domorendra alias Dharmen (34) s/o K Indrajit of Singjamei Chingamakha Yambem Leikai from near Krishna Premi Oil Pump, Moirangkhom while frisking at around 10 am yesterday.
According to SP Imphal West one Hero Honda Activa bearing no registration number was recovered from the arrested activist.
On the other hand, Police Commandos of Bishnupur District have reportedly nabbed an UNLF activist from Moirang Bazar at around 3.45 pm yesterday.
The arrested activist is one Khagembam Nanaomacha alias Nanaocha (19) s/o late Bor Singh of Wangoo Sabal Awang Leikai.
He is reported to have joined the outfit in March this year.
Troops of 11 Garhwal Rifles have also reportedly arrested one INF cadre today with an extortion notice bearing the stamp of the publicity secretary of the outfit, said sources.
The cadre is identified as Md Avejuddin.
