Members of Manipur Mahila Kalyan Samiti, Dewlahlane will be launching various forms of agitation from the second week of February if the authority concerned does not compensate the Samiti's Working Women's Hostel at Khuman Lampak which is presently being occupied by II IRB, disclosed, H Rashi executive members.
Talking to mediapersons at the Samiti's office at Deulahlane, Rashi informed that Samiti's Working Women's Hostel at Khuman Lampak was acquired by the State Home Department for opening the headquarters of the II IRB Battalion in May 2000 after signing an agreement with the members of the Samiti.
As per the agreement, the State Government has paid Rs 65,000 as rent for the hostel for the period between June 2000 and June 2001 but has not paid for the remaining period till today, lamented Rashi and added that the rent fees of the hostel is Rs 5000 per month.
Despite the assurance given by the State Government to provide a plot (half acre) in front of Lamphel PS as compensation for the Samiti's Working Women Hostel which is estimated to be about one acre in area, the authority concerned has not' taken up anything concrete with regard to the matter till today, rued Rashi adding that a memorandum was also submitted to the Chief Minister in December last year appealing for immediate payment of Rs 36,00,914 as compensation for the Working Women Hostel.
