Imphal, July 30:
The Student Union of the LMS Law College has urged for probe into the development works undertaken in the college during 2003 to 2007 by an independent body of Education (U).
Speaking to reporters today, president of the Student Union Thokchom Okenjit conveyed that the Director Education (U) has presented a white paper which said that Rs 60 lakhs was sanctioned for the college during 2003 to 2007. However, on ground many of the development works are incomplete, sub-standard while many are yet to executed.
In short, the development works seen in the college is quite incompatible to the total sanctioned for the college, said Okenjit.
He asserted that academic atmosphere and educational quality of the State's only Law college have been severely jeopardised and compromised due to irregular attendance of the Principal, presence of only 7 regular teachers, shortage of non-teaching staff etc.
Even as all these problems have been highlighted to the Director Education (U) and other authorities concerned repeatedly through written representations and memoranda, no remedial measure could be seen till date, he stated.
If the authorities continue ignoring the problems of the college and woes of the students further, the students of the College will be compelled to take up democratic protest movements which will not affect the academic atmosphere, disclosed Okenjit.
