Scholarship to 403 selected disabled students of Imphal WestI and II under the Integrated Education for Disabled Children (IEDC) scheme for the year 2005-06 have been distributed during a function organised by the IEDC Unit of State Council of Educational Research Training (SCERT) at GM Hall here today.
Education Minister L Jayanta Singh and Commissioner of SCERT C Kipgen were chief guest and president of the function which was also attended by SCERT Director N Debala Devi and HOO of SCERT M Debendra as
guests of honour.
It is said that the scholarship amount to the selected beneficiaries of the scheme of other districts like Imphal East, Thoubal, Bishnupur and Churachandpur would be disbursed from August 1 to 4 at Ist MR Ground.
Speaking at the occasion, the Education Minister maintained it should be the responsibility of the parents, teachers and the implementation agencies of the scheme to ensure that all the disabled students are educated properly.
SCERT Director assured that although the benefit of the scheme is being extended to just 1352 students in 452 schools under eight blocks of Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Thoubal and Churachandpur, efforts would be made very soon to include more students along with covering more districts and blocks.
