Manipur Pavilion in the ongoing India International Trade Fair at Pragati Maidan here drew a large crowd this year to buy colourful Manipuri handloom and handicraft items.
Twenty four Co-operative Societies and individuals from different parts of Manipur were taking part in the two-week long International Fair organized by the India Trade Promotion Organisation commencing from November 14 annually.
Manipur Pavilion Director Ksh Santakumar Singh stated that the handloom products of Mangsatabam Memi Devi of Kongpal Chana Leikai had the highest sale record which was followed by the handloom products of Standard Weaving Coop Society of Sega road and the handicrafts embroidery items of Pioneer Women's Welfare Association of Keishamthong Laisom Leirak.
He further stated that products of Jessia Flower making Unit of Tamenglong, Wash Group Industry of Koirengei, Creation Society for handicrafts and Goodwill of Palace compound, BK Flute Industry of Brahmapur Nahabam and Meira Foods of Brahmapur Aribam Leikai were the favourite items of the buyers, he added.
Apart from the private participants, the products of seven Government organizations namely Tourism Department, Horticulture and Soil Conservation Department, Science and Technology and Information Technology Department, Sericulture Department, Manipur development society, Manipur Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation and Manipur Apex handloom and Handicrafts Artisans Co-op Society Ltd were also displayed in the Manipur Pavilion.
