Mass participation advocated

Understanding each others' culture and participation in celebrating the different cultural festivals would help in ushering in peace and harmony in a State like Manipur which is home to many ethnic group of people, titular king of Manipur Leishemba Sanajaoba has stated.
Participating in a function held in connection with Gaan-Ngai festival at Ramji Kabui Village here today as chief guest, Leishemba Sanajaoba observed that all the ethnic groups in Manipur have their own unique culture and identity.
Appreciating each others' culture and participating in the celebration of each others' cultural festival would help in promotion amity and unity among the people.
Every efforts should also be made jointly to preserve and promote these cultural values, he added.
General secretary of Meetei National Front Thokchom Wangamba Meetei, AMADA president L Tomba Meetei, general secretary of All Zeliangrong Students' Union Joshua and Khunbu of Ramji Pei K Kangbuba were presidium members of the event organised by Zeliangrong Students' Union, Manipur, Imphal Area under the theme of 'Cultural diversity and togetherness'.
Among the presidium members who spoke at the occasion, Joshua stressed on the need for promotion of cultural exchange programme among the people of Manipur so as to dispel felling of animosity and and mutual distrust among the people.
AMADA president L Tomba, while assuring assistance in protection and preservation of the cultural elements, appealed to all concerned to stop brewing of illicit liquor as a mean of earning profit.
Presentation of cultural dances by the village belles are the other attractions of the programme.
