The president of the Irengbam Thamcha Devi Nursing and Health Care Institute Irengbam Ibotombi has appealed to the student body, DESAM to lift the recent ban imposed on the institute in consideration of the future of the nursing students of the institute.
Addressing a press conference in this connection at the office of the institute at Uripok Bachaspati Leikai, Ibotombi clarified that although the Indian Nursing Council is yet to grant recognition, the institute has received approval from the Assam Nursing Council for affiliation with the Nightingale Nursing Institute at Porompat and allow the nursing students of his institute to appear in the examination.
All the nursing institutes that have been set in the past followed the same procedure of admitting the students fist and getting the recognition afterward, he asserted.
Moreover, along with receiving no objection certificate from the Government of Manipur, permission has also been granted for allowing the students to undergo clinical practical at JN Hospital and three other PHCs, he added.
The process for getting the recognition of the Indian Council of Nursing is already underway and there is no question of deceiving the students and their parents.
While appealing for lifting the ban, Ibotombi lamented that the students of his institute who have gone to write their paper on the first day of the examination today at Nightingale Nursing Institute were denied question paper and answer scripts as a result of the ban imposed by DESAM.
It is said that the examination is to continue till January 25 .
