Imphal, February 17, 2010: All Manipur Students� Guardians� Organisation has decided to initiate legal procedure against the authority of a school that failed to submit the names of 68 students for appearing in the High School Leaving Certificate Examination, 2010 to be conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur from March 10. Addressing a press conference in this connection at the Palace Compound office of the Organisation, its advisor N Tomba pointed out that consequent to the shut down of educational institutions for more than four months in the aftermath of the public protest over the Khwairamband Bazar incident, Board of Secondary Education, Manipur had declared that all the students would be allowed to appear in the High School Leaving Certificate Examination, 2010 due to begin from March 10. However, the authority of Little Master English Higher Secondary School at Samurou omitted the names of 68 students from the list of its students forwarded to the Board for appearing the said examination.

Following complaints from the side of the guardians in this regard, the Organisation has investigated into the matter and found out that the names of 68 students have been omitted as they did not qualify in the pre-examination test of the school.

This was in contradiction to the earlier Board declaration that marks secured by students in examinations conducted by respective schools should be relaxed with regard to appearance in the Board examination.

Taking this into account, the Organisation has notified to the school authority for allowing the 68 students to appear in the Board examination as well.

But so far, there has been no positive response from the side of the school authority, thereby compelling the Organisation to take recourse to necessary legal assistance in the interest of ensuring right to education of the 68 omitted students, Tomba explained.

He also appealed to the Board not to issue admit cards of the students with regard to the school in question until the matter has been settled.
