Imphal, December 11:
Observing that the party president is almost synonymous with the party itself, the vice president of Manipur Peoples' Party, Ashraf Ali Iboton has pinned his hope on the ability of O Joy to settle the fiasco regarding the election of a new president outside the Court.
Talking to The Sangai Express today at his home at Minuthong, the VP remarked that the impasse can be resolved under the guidance and able leadership of the incumbent president Joy.
As according to a recent standing order of the Election Commission of India, it is incumbent upon the party to elect its president by December 31 and with such a situation, it is imperative to break the dead lock immediately, observed Iboton.
The vice president also gave a clean chit to AK Sanaton maintaining that he has been a sincere and a devoted member of the party.
The vice president further contended that AK Sanaton was just a member of Party's Financial Committee engaged only in the supervision of party's developmental works.
Ashraf Ali also appealed to the party president O Joy to give AK Sanaton the opportunity to clarify the allegations levelled against him.
He added that O Joy is not only a stalwart of MPP but also a seasoned politician of the State and expressed hope that he would lead the party in the right direction.
Following a petition filed by Sanaton in the Court, the election to the post of MPP president has been postponed indefinitely.
The election was supposed to be conducted on December 11 but had to be postponed following an injunction from the Court to stall the election.
