One 11th Bn Garhwal Rifles personnel was killed while another two were seriously injured during an unprecedented attack launched by cadres of the 252nd Bn of the PLA on a post of the GR located at Gothal village 25 Kms north west of Churachandpur PS on February 4 morning at around 2.30, said sources.
A spokesman of the PLA informed that the victims were from the special commando team of 11 Garhwal Rifles and added that the PLA cadres have returned safely to their base camps.
Sources said that UGs armed to the teeth attacked the GR post using Lethod bombs and other sophisticated weapons.
In the ensuing heavy firing, three GR personnel were seriously injured.
One of them later succumbed to his injuries later.
The deceased GR personnel has been identified as one Naik Mukesh while one of the injured has been identified as Sunil.
Sunil's condition is stated to be serious.
The two injured personnel have been shifted to the army hospital at Leimakhong.
According to another report, the youth who was lynched to death by villagers of Watha Lembal Village on Feb 4 have been identified as a member of the proscribed PLA.
The youth has been identified as one Lairenjam Ibomcha alias Premchand (27) s/o Nimai of Joypur Khunnou Chingdon Leikai.
He is reported to have joined the PLA about five years back.
The victim's body was handed over to family members after post mortem at RIMS today.
Reports said that the Watha village's chief Satkai who had led the attack on Ibomcha is reported to have gone into hiding after fleeing the village.
Moirang shoot out: A joint security force team was engaged in a fierce shoot out with well armed UGs during combing operation at Keibul Lamjao under Moirang PS this morning.
Sources said that the operation began about 6 in the morning and continued till 10.During the course of the operation well armed UGs attacked the security forces with Lethod Bombs and sophisticated weapons near Pabotching.
However there were no casualties on the side of the SF.
The joint security force team was led by Bishnupur SP Clay Khongsai and included personnel of 11 Garhwal Rifles, II IRB and Bishnupur commandos.
