Despite lack of adequate teachers, Kachai Government High School in Chingai A/C of Ukhrul district is the second high school which maintained highest number pass percentage in the HSLC examination.

As for teaching science and art subject, there is only one teacher each.
In fact the total number of teacher required for teaching the two subjects is four.
But the two teachers are presently sweating out and taking seven periods a day daily for the sake of the students.
Apart from the problem inadequate teachers, the school does not have adequate infrastructures like benches, desks and science laboratory facilities, informed headmaster of the school Ningtam Ramson.
Coming from Tuinem village, the headmaster who is putting up with a family at Kachai village observed that one of the reasons why teachers dont like to be transferred at the school is due to lodging problems in the absence of quarter facilities.
The matter has been put up to the officials of the Department concerned.
But there has been no positive response on the matter till date, he lamented.
It was similar story for Tora-Chambung Government Junior High School of the neighbouring village which has in all 150 students on its register.
According to headmaster PS James, there were 15 teachers to teach the students from Nursery to Class VIII till 1997.But now there are only six teachers after five of them have been transferred and three others retired from service.
James rued that the Government has not taken up any step to fill up the vacant posts of eight teachers.
Over and above this, he said that the school building needs to be repaired by the Government at the earliest possible.
