Lamka, April 21:
Students from 20 schools representing the district's student community marched today 'for peace' on the streets of Lamka under Churachandpur District Students' Union's banner and asked 'Who are we ? Who is our Government?' The students numbering at least 5000 submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner/CCpur AK Sinha and Commander 27 Sector Assam Rifles in which they alleged that the tribal people of Churachandpur have been systematically subjugated, marginalized, victimized and eliminated in all aspects by outlawed underground outfits.
'We trust and relied on the security measures of the Government but lived a life of terror and insecurity' stated the memorandum which accused the State Government of not addressing the landmine issue satisfactorily.
'Are we really safe under the security measures of Indian Government ?' The students' memorandum asked.
