Elections for two vice-presidents, eleven members of working committee, nine members of election committee and five members of disciplinary committee of the Manipur People's party would be held on May 3.According to a notification issued by State returning officer Saratkumar Maimom on April 18, nomination papers for these elections should be submitted by 3 pm of April 25 and scrutiny would be conducted on the next day.
Last date of withdrawal of nomination papers has been fixed at 3 pm of April 27.On the other hand, MPP would fight accordingly if the concerned OC and IO are harassed continuously while concealing the crimes committed by the sons of former president O Joy, stated its general secretary O Jugindro.
While expressing his trust on Chief Minister for befitting actions against the crimes committed by Joy and his family, Jugindro cast doubt on the allegations of severe torture by police against the sons of Joy.If the party elections held during the tenure of Joy as MPP president were against the party constitution and its election rules, he ought to resign from the party membership as he is morally responsible for non-compliance of party constitution, asserted Jugindro.
