The need of preserving Nat Sankritan was stressed in a seminar organised by the Shree Shree Govindajee Akademi at JN Dance Academy today.
The seminar prominently discussed the 68-rash of Nat Sankritan was organised by the Akademi for the seventh time under the sponsorship of the Sangeet Natak Akademi.
The inaugural function was graced by director of state art and culture department, Ksh Shorojini and presided over by president of the Cultural and Heritage Research Trust, Kullabidhu Sharma.
Administrative secretary of Manipur State Kala Akademi S Bideshwor Sharma and pradhan guru Th Iboton of JN Dance Academy attended as guests of honour.
Award winning artistes in different fields were honoured with gifts on the occasion.
The artistes were felicitated included Guru Pishak Singh Memorial Award winner K Kumar, Guruji Ibotombi Sharma Memorial Award winner M Iboton, Bismilla Youth Purushkar award winner M Meina, H Indu and T Shyamkanhai.
Addressing the gathering, director Ksh Shorojini stressed the need for preservation of the Nat Sankritan which was came into existence in the state with the advent of Goura Drama in 15th Century.
She said that the Nat Sankritan was introduced during the reign of Maharaja Chandrakriti.
